2013 Chevy Avalanche Black Diamond

Monday, September 24th 2012. | Review

The 2013 Avalanche Black Diamond edition was released to mark the final production year of the Avalanche. The fact that the Avalanche will be no-more has been known for quite some time, but with the Colorado and Canyon being in the news recently, we thought their predecessor (in a way) should be featured one last time.

From GM: The 2013 Chevrolet Black Diamond Avalanche marks the final year of production for a ground breaking design and one of the industry’s most flexible utility vehicles. Black Diamond Avalanches feature body-colored bed surrounds, a unique badge on the sail panel, more standard features and lower prices across the lineup.

I’ve never been a big fan of the Avalanche personally, but I can see its utility for a lot of people, it has great towing capability and a bed suited for occasional hauling duty. Perhaps the new Colorado/Canyon will fill that void? With higher gas prices this duo might just be the ticket for people shopping in this segment as they should return significantly higher MPG’s than the Avalanches 5.3l v8. See below the Black Diamond edition Avalanche.

It’s nothing elaborate or over the top for an SUV that has had its sales decrease dramatically over the last 5 years, but I do like the body colored panels much better over the extensive use of plastic I see some Avalanche’s seem to have.
