2013 Chevy Trailblazer (Global)

Thursday, November 29th 2012. | News, Trailblazer

The Chevy Trailblazer is a mid-sized SUV that was introduced in 1999 in America as a luxury trim level of the Chevy Blazer. In 2002 however, it was made into a separate model. The Trailblazer was continued to be sold in America by Chevrolet till 2009 when its production was ceased. Recently though, Chevy has brought back this mid-sized SUV to be sold globally.

The 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer is supposed to combine affordability with utility and comfort. The new exterior has been shaped according to something that Chevrolet calls “body in-wheels out” design. The exterior, it must be said, has a bold look with a muscly bulge on the hood, a dual port grille and high-mounted headlamps. Inside, the Trailblazer is quite spacious to say the least. There is room for 7 people to sit with 2 of the 3 rows of seats having fold-flat capability for increased storage. The interior also features light-colored leather seating and use of quality materials along with several creature comforts such as Bluetooth connectivity and so on.

The Chevy Trailblazer will have two Duramax turbo-diesel engine options. The first option is a 150 HP and 258 lb-ft 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. The second and the more powerful option is that of a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder that produces 180 HP and 346 lb-ft of torque. The engines are made for reliability and durability, but also keeping fuel economy in mind. Both the engines feature components that built to last 240,000 kilometers and the 2.8 liter engine features a variable-geometry turbocharger for increased power output and economy. There are two options as far as the transmission is concerned as well; there is a 5-speed manual option and a 6-speed automatic option with electronic shift control.

The body-on-frame setup of the Trailblazer also ensures good towing and hauling capabilities. However, at the same time the Trailblazer is comfortable and a rather good handling SUV. This mid-sized SUV has several features that assist the driver while driving such as electronic stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, hydraulic brake assist, hill descent control and so on. So all in all, with all these features along with a good choice of engines, good off-road capability, a comfortable and safe ride, a good exterior and interior along with affordability certainly make the Trailblazer a winner.
