2014 Chevrolet Colorado Preview
Expectations are growing higher and higher among the Chevy truck fans for the new generation Chevrolet Colorado, the little brother to the Cheverolet Silverado. Yes, I am talking about the 2014 Chevrolet Colorado. In its press release, GM announces that the 2014 Chevrolet Colorado will arrive with a completely new design inside and out. It will be based off of the 2012 global market Colorado.
Colorado fans have been anxiously waiting for its arrival in the market, especially considering the international market (2012 model year) has had a variation of this truck available for some time now (the truck pictured above and below). GM is hard at work adapting it to the American market. The 2014 Chevrolet Colorado will differ a lot from the older models. The styling of the truck incorporates a lot of rounded lines, with an almost car-like frontend. The incoming Colorado will be available with a 4-wheel-drive system. There will be a front skid plate on the car-ahem-truck. General Motors is serious about making the 2014 Colorado a powerful competitor of the world renowned Toyota Tacoma.
The Chevy Colorado in the internation market is available with not one, but two duramax diesel options. There is some talk of bringing the larger of the two to the US market. The 180-hp 2.8-liter with 347 lb-ft of torque. It would certainly be a revolution in the American small truck market (at least in my mind). As for the gassers we can expect a number of engines from the GM lineup, like the 2.4 Liter I-4 Ecotec engine or the 2.0 Liter I-4 turbo. For those wanting V-6 power there is of course GM’s 3.6 liter.
GM hasn’t announced anything about the price of the 2014 Chevrolet Colorado truck. But we expect that this truck will be priced at an attractive price point to target the small truck market buyer. Has Ford made a mistake by dropping its Ranger from the lineup? The performance of this new generation Colorado will tell us. Look for it on dealership lots sometime in mid-2013 where it will be joining an all-new Silverado.
