6.2 Liter V8 Horsepower and Torque Numbers Released

Wednesday, May 29th 2013. | Review

After discovering some leaked power numbers it didn’t take long for GM to release actual power numbers for the 6.2 Liter EcoTec3 engine for the 2014 Silverado and Sierra. It is available for the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 Denali package. These numbers aren’t actually finalized, but they will be close to 420 horsepower and 450 pounds-feet of torque, it seems that our prediction of higher torque than horsepower numbers for the truck variant of the 6.2 Liter have come true.

The numbers did come in a little lower than the Corvette variant, but that’s not surprising as the truck motor is likely built with durability and longevity in mind, more-so than a 2 door sports car engine that isn’t built for towing or hauling. The range-topping 6.2 liter V8 will be able to tow a whopping 12,000 pounds when properly equipped with Max trailering package and 3.73:1 gears.

While it is an option on the Silverado accross all its models, for the Sierra it will only be available on the Denali trim level, which will be the most premium package offered for the Sierra. This package will be offered with unique headlights, grill and bumpers. You can also expect Denali-specific accents in the interior.
