Chevrolet is returning to the medium-duty commercial truck market with an introduction of six new vehicles. Focusing on cheapening manufacturing costs, Chevy has partnered with Isuzu to supply their 2016 low-cab-forward platforms (LCF Platform) borrowed from existing Isuzu vehicles.

In the past GM had offered the Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick but phased out production in 2009 leaving the 4500 and 5500 market segment. They are now returning to that segment. The six main vehicles introduced on the LCF platform include the 3500, 3500 Heavy Duty, 4500, 4500 HD, 5500 and the 5500 HD. There will be two versions of the cabs, a regular two door cab and a crew-cab four door.

For power there will be three different engine choices in these models. The biggest is a 6.0-liter V-8 gas and for diesels they will offer a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel and 5.2-liter V-8 turbo-diesel.

To round out their commercial truck line-up Chevy has introduced the full-size Silverado 2500 HD and 2500 HD and a mid-size Colorado with a box-delete option (also known as chassis-cabs), as well as a compact City Express and a full-size Express when it comes to vans.
