No Diesel for 2014 Silverado, the Colorado Might Get One

Friday, June 28th 2013. | Colorado, News

The 2014 Silverado 1500 will likely not receive a diesel option, there was some promising rumors floating around. But at this point it does not seem likely, as there is no provision for an Exhaust Fluid Fill Port on the new Silverado trucks. However… The Colorado may yet receive a diesel. The engine would likely be one of the global models, a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with 150 horsepower and 258 foot pounds of torque or a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder which is good for 346 foot pounds of torque.

Why is this likely? GM is already bringing a diesel to the Cruze and since these 2.5 and 2.8 liter motors are part of the same family, GM may as well spread the cost of bringing these engines to the US over multiple vehicles. It makes a whole lot of sense! Let’s hope GM is thinking that way. If Chevy isn’t going to directly compete with the upcoming 2014 Ram Ecodiesel, it could still indirectly compete with the Colorado.
