The 2014 Suburban & Tahoe will be…

Tuesday, June 25th 2013. | News, Suburban

The same as the 2013 model, a GMT900. Chevy will be releasing new SUV’s next year as the 2015 Suburban and Tahoe, likely along with the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. Luckily we do have some indication of what to expect with the 2014 Silverado’s and Sierra’s being available. The large SUV’s from GM will likely share many of the features that we have had the pleasure of learning about on the Silverado and Sierra. Including a trio of highly capable EcoTec3 engines, capable in both performance and efficiency. We are sad we’ll have to wait a little longer, but glad that GM isn’t hastily bringing the new SUV’s to market. They certainly don’t have to worry about being ahead of the competition, their current SUV’s are still very well positioned in the market. We’ll be sure to report anything we find out about GM’s full size SUV’s as things develop.

The SUV market as a whole isn’t what it used to be, that’s no different for Chevy. But it is still a very significant market at almost 50,000 Suburban’s per year over the last few years. But nothing like the heyday of SUV’s and of the Suburban in 2001 at over 150,000 trucks sold. This is, I think, mostly due to the increase in fuel prices causing people to move to more fuel efficient family vehicles like Traverse’s, Equinox’s and to a lesser extent Trailblazers. But there will always be plenty of families, taxi-services and businesses that will have a use for the capacity a full-size SUV offers. I am thinking here of families with boats, motor homes, business with trailers and taxi services with a need for luxury SUV’s. We can of course not forget about our friends and family in law enforcement, who also tend to keep full-size SUV’s in their fleet of vehicles.

Below are three photo galleries of the final year of the GMT900 based SUV’s: the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban Z71, theĀ 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ and theĀ 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV.
